Artist, Healer, Teacher, Maker Upper of tall tales, gatherer of wild women
I am an artist, a teacher, a healer and a mother of teenagers.
My teaching style is light and fun. I truly love people and connecting on a heart level. I like to laugh and play and get messy. My artistic style is whimsical, filled with scribbles and crooked lines, bright colors, and stories.
I dance, paint and makes up stories - usually all at the same time.
I love the power and the beauty of the creative process in helping us transform and step more fully into our greater selves. I love when people come together to create, build community, explore possibilities, laugh, play, and share stories. Magic happens when women gather!
My mission is to remind myself and others, that we can live a joyous life filled with love, while stepping into the truth and beauty of who we are.
My professional training is as a healer. I received a Bachelors degree in Nursing from Southern Oregon University and a Masters degree in Public Health and Community Development from the University of Hawaii. I have Worked as a Public Health Nurse, Health Educator, and a School Nurse.
I have created all my life. Like many of us, my first art tools were Crayola Crayons. I can still feel the faint flutterings of excitement at getting the 64 color box. When I was 6, I invented a new crayon color. You color first with the Carnation Pink and then color over top of that with the Yellow Orange color. It made the most beautiful color in the world to my 6 year old eyes - Sunset Color. You could even scratch with your finger nail and remove some of the top color layer, creating a stunning effect.
I am mostly a self taught artist, never having attended art school. As my once 7 year old son answered, when I asked how he played soccer so well, he looked at me like I wasn’t very clever and said, “I just follow my feet, Mamma”. That’s how I create, I just follow my heart and hands…
My art has had many incarnations: watercolor, mixed media, fabric and thread, acrylics, up-cycled natural fibers, and ripped and woven paper.
I studied with Intentional Creativity founder Shiloh Sophia and am a Certified Intentional Creativity Teacher. Intentional Creativity is a using creativity to intentionally explore ourselves.
I love to travel and create space for women to gather and explore our many sided natures in foreign countries. I have taught in southern Spain for the last 4 years and plan to branch out to Greece, France, Ireland and Scotland.
